As a part of our environment commitment, reducing carbon footprints (through reduction of Green House Gases (GHG) emissions in the atmosphere) is taken as top priority as it directly helps in climate change mitigation. Our efforts in reducing GHG emissions aims at :
Promoting sales of blended cements like PPC and PSC. Kadapa plant produces 55% of blended cement whereas Kalburgi plant produces 25% of blended cement.
Our thermal and electrical energy efficiency is one of the best in Industry and we are continuously working towards achieving further reduction.
At both our manufacturing plants, maximizing usage of Alternate fuels is foremost priority. We are amongst highest users of alternative fuels in industry, which includes wastes from hazardous industries, carbon dust, trade rejects and bio mass.
To reduce carbon footprint Vicat has installed its first Waste heat recovery system of 8.4MW capacity at its Kalburgi plant. This system utilizes the waste heat exiting from pre-heater system and is utilized to run a steam turbine, thereby reducing the CO2 emissions and saving natural resources. First green power through WHRS was generated on 29th March 2014.
We are currently monitoring and reporting CO2 emissions as per group guidelines.
